- Available if moored at a UK recognised Marina
- A discount is included in your price if kept in a marina
- Additional benefits if moored at a Premier Marina
Through GJW Direct, The Marina Scheme is available to customers who moors their vessel at a recognised UK marina.
If moored at a marina, the scheme provides a discounted policy price, along with a package of additional benefits designed to protect you financially if something goes wrong – covering things like berthing fees, getting home after an incident, legal protection, medical expenses, key replacement and UK or EU repatriation costs.
You'll also benefit from reduced excess and no claims bonus protection when loss or damage incidents occur at your home marina.
Any recognised UK marina is included in the marina scheme. During the quote process, once you enter your home mooring location, you will be informed if you are eligible for the marina scheme.

The Enhanced Marina Scheme is for customers who moor at a PMI UK marina and are introduced to GJW Direct by PMI. It includes all the benefits of the standard Marina Scheme but extends your financial protection further.
The key difference is that your no excess and no claims bonus protection for loss and damage applies while moored or underway at any UK marina – not just your home berth. You'll also get mis-fuelling cover up to £500 if you accidentally put the wrong fuel in your boat.
To be eligible for the enhanced marina scheme, your home marina must be one of the following:
A standout benefit of the Enhanced Marina Scheme is exclusive yacht cover for the Race Around the Isle of Wight. Customers eligible for the enhanced marina benefits who own a yacht can receive cover for this iconic race at no additional cost—something not typically included in standard GJW Direct policies. This provides a layer of protection and added peace of mind when taking part in one of sailing’s most celebrated events.
Another key advantage of the Enhanced Marina Scheme is the inclusion of an extended cruising area for both motor cruisers and yachts. This expanded latitude and longitude range is built into the cover at no extra cost, offering greater flexibility and freedom to explore further afield. As part of the enhanced scheme, this benefit ensures wider protection while cruising.
As of 2026, the cost of owning and maintaining a boat or watercraft has never been higher. The increase in marina fees, maintenance costs, and bills has led boatowners to feel financial constraints that may prevent them from enjoying time on their vessels or potential first-time boat owners from entering the market.
Also, once you buy a GJW Direct policy, you receive access to a wide range of discounts from some fantastic brands in the industry.
Any UK recognised marina is part of the marina scheme; therefore, over a thousand marinas.
To see if your mooring location is eligible, during the quote process, once you enter your mooring location, you will be informed if it is a part of the marina scheme.
If your mooring location changes during your policy, your eligibility for the Marina Scheme (or Enhanced Marina Scheme) may also change at the next renewal date.
Because the scheme depends on where your boat is moored, you should inform GJW Direct as soon as your mooring location changes. Your policy will then be reassessed based on the new marina to confirm:
This ensures your cover remains accurate and that you continue to receive the correct level of protection and benefits under your policy.
Refer your friends to GJW Direct and you'll both get a voucher from one of six retailers when they take out a policy with us.
